A Balanced Life

There are four rules to being a successful professional and living a balanced life. We tend to dive head first into work and never really turn it off. I am guilty of being so driven with my career that I go to work and work, then I come home and work, then I go to sleep and dream of work! Owning a business takes everything you've got and then some but you cannot alienate your family & friends in the process. So here are the secrets to balance:

1. Family comes first....no exceptions!
We often take our children for granted not realizing that they grow up fast and the time you miss you will not get back. The more you work the less time you spend with your mate and the less you share your lives. In the end, your bond is the be all; end all so it is important to nurture it!

Your family is your foundation, your cheering section, your shoulder to lean on - show them your love and appreciation.

2. Take care of yourself!
Though it doesn't seem like there is never enough hours in the day it is important to maintain your health. What is success if you won't live to see it! Eat right, exercise, relax. Take care of your body, mind and soul.

3. Find ways to give back
True success is measured by your person. There is nothing more rewarding than giving back to your community. This keeps you humble, grounded and appreciative of your effort.

4. Become more successful at work
By spending time with your family, taking care of yourself and giving back you re-energize and that reflects in your work. A balanced life gives you the tools you need to make life work for you not you work for it. It is apparent when one of these items are lacking!

104 Yr Old Woman lies about age on FB

So 104 year old Marguerite Joseph has been forced to lie about her age on Facebook. Though she is legally blind and can't hear well, her daughter reads her Facebook comments and responds on her behalf. Unfortunately, while creating her profile; she entered her year of birth as 1908 but Facebook continued to change it to 1928. For the past two year Marguerite has been 99 online.

Her granddaughter says she would love to see Marguerite's real age posted and a Facebook representative says they are working to fix the glitch causing issues with pre-1910 birth years.

Teen Mom Denied the Right to Breastfeed

Women everywhere are outraged and support new mother Jaielyn Belong in her desire to exclusively breastfeed her son, Adrian Amir Belong. Jaielyn is a sophomore at a Delaware high school and heading back to school next week. She has asked the school to consider accommodations for her newborn baby's feedings, however the school has rejected her request and state that she may only breastfeed before and after school hours.

Jaielyn has been comended by the Le Leche League for her maturity in taking responsibility for her child and feel that the by not supporting her choice to breastfeed the school is sending a negative message. Breastfeeding has been proven to be the best form of nutrition for an infant.

In light of this controversy moms created a Facebook page: We Support Jaielyn Belong's right to breastfeed
Since the virtual protests, members of the school have decided to give Jaielyn a private room to pump her milk and access to a refrigerator to store it.
