How to cope with a broken heart
Losing love is one of the most emotionally damaging things that a person has to go through. All of our senses are tied to our heart. A scent reminds you of your childhood, a face brings you back to your first love, that song is the song you had your first dance too, that silky material portrays the image of your mothers best dress. So with our senses bringing feelings it is difficult to move past the sting of the one who left.
Sometimes our hearts break because we split with someone. Maybe your love passed on. It may even be a child who has asked to live with their father. But no matter how it happened your heart is broken. Unfortunately time does not stand still in that moment and your heart must mend.
Here are some tips to help you heal:
1. Know that you are not the only person in the world with these feelings!
2. Talk about it - whether with someone you can trust or to someone who is going through it as well.
3. If you have trouble talking - write it down. Expressing yourself in a journal can help you relieve the pain by getting it out of your head.
4. Eat chocolate - or whatever it is you enjoy! I am not saying over-eat to block the pain but finding some joy within your life helps...in moderation!
Time heals all wounds and most of the time there is reason behind the loss that will bring you to a better place.
