In a medical first, a Mississippi toddler born in July 2010 was confirmed to be cured from HIV. The baby and his mother were both infected and 30 hours after birth they started the child on an aggressive HIV therapy.
Doctors believe that her cure reflects that early treatment on infected infants can prevent the virus from fully embedding into the child's system. What a huge breakthrough in medicine!
